Creative Direction — Identity

Client: Ring Night

The Challenge

Ring Night, a sports marketing agency, wanted an identity rooted in sport and success without leaning on sports clichés. They needed a new identity built from the ground up that was professional, approachable, and spoke directly to their clients' needs. The name Ring Night refers to the opening game of a season after winning a championship -- the night players' receive their championship ring.

My Role

Creative Direction, strategy, and leading a team of graphic designers.

The Vision

As a new marketing agency, with partnerships with some of the sports world's largest brands, Ring Night needed to be positioned as trusted first and foremost. Their status as an upstart, and disregard of clichés, positioned them perfectly for a fresh and contemporary look. Ring Night needed to be rooted in historic success and focused squarely on the future, while also bringing in trust and a refreshing contemporary look. I took inspiration from the achievements and optimism of postwar America -- the future facing trust of aviation, the clean lines of automakers and the elegance of sports history. I blended in an implied world of sport using an athlete autograph-inspired wordmark, shapes inspired by the look of championship banners and restrained jersey textures.

Deliverables

Full visual identity system, social media templates, pitch deck design.
